Hi guys, it's Eilis and Olive and this week we are doing cheerleading jumps. Olive is doing a toe touch and Eilis is doing an around the world which is a toe touch, pike, hurdler, toe touch, hurdler, pike, hurdler, toe touch and toe touch. I would just like to add that these are on grass and might look slightly low but on the training floor they look a lot higher and sharper and we did not have very long to warm up. Eilis has done cheer for 2 and a 1/2 years and Olive is just going to start.

iHola Readers! How's your week been going? Well, last week the year 8's had a splendid time during EOTC week.
Day 1 ~ Rockclimbing
On Wednesday the first activity we did was Rock Climbing. We were very excited. When we got there we were very eager to start climbing. Before we started to climb we had to put on our harnesses and learn how to climb ourselves onto the climbing equipment. After we had learnt the basics of climbing, we then learnt how to belay someone on the harder walls that required a partner. It was kinda scary climbing up the wall but you had to trust your partner not to drop you. After what had seemed like forever we then finally got to climb the automatic walls by ourselves. Although I enjoyed climbing, I cut both of my thumbs :( But I'm tough. I'll live through it. Anyway, back to rocking climbing. I enjoyed rock climbing a lot and I'm sure the rest of the year 8's that came would agree with me. Not once did I hear any year 8 complain about how they did not enjoy Rockclimbing. Here's some pics from Rockclimbing.
Day 2 ~ Ice Skating And Bowling
Out for all the EOTC activities we did I would have to say that ice skating and bowling were the best on by far. We left school. At 9'o clock and arrived there at 9:15. When we arrived there it was really cold. Everyone was shivering. Even I was shivering. As we coldly walked towards the benches I noticed a lot of pro ice skaters on the ice. They looked like they had been training for years. I was quite envious of them.
Anyway, after we had finally put all of our stuff away we slipped on our ice skates and slowly made our way towards the rink. Some of us were not quite 'good' at ice skating so we made sure to hold onto the rails while others (the pros) skated straight onto the ice and started during turns and spins which made us non-pros jealous.
As we started getting use to freely ice skating it was fianlly time for our 10:30 lesson. The first thing our instructor made us do is made us sit on he cold and wet ground. Trust me, the ground made your butt so cold and wet, it was a gross feeling. The next thing our instructor made us do was was to skate from the rails to the centre of the rink. Since I had finally gotten use to ice skating I quite happily skated to the centre and then quickly turned back and made my way back to the rails. I liked skating around but when the instructor told us were we doing Limbo I quickly backed away and went to the back of the line. When it came to my turn I slowly slid under the stick and was finally happy when I made it under. Once our lesson was complete we then got free time on the ice. Angela and I skated to the middle and basically just stayed there. It was quite fun there. I had a really good time. Here's some pics from iceskating!
^ Here's Saidaran chilling on the ice.
Day 2 ~ Part 2 ~ Bowling!
After arriving at bowling we are some lunch and got our bowling shoes ready. Once we were all ready, we got into our lanes and started to bowl. I was sad at first that we didn't have the bumpers and when we did finally get the bumpers up I was really happy. The first game ended being own by Angela who got 96 points! With me coming in 2nd. The next game was a very close game with Angela and I neck'n'neck. Although mine and Angela's scores were close, Rachel ended up winning the second game. Since my group only had 4 people in it, our 2 games finished quite fast so we sat down and had a quick snack while we waited for the others to finish their games. After having our snacks, we decided to watch the others play their games. It was quite interesting watching how others played. While we watched the others play, I was dying to play on all the arcade games. They all looked so fun but sadly, we weren't allowed on them :'( Apart from not being able to go on the games, bowling was quite an enjoyable sport and I wouldn't mind doing it again sometime. Here's from pics from bowling!
Day 3 ~ Water Activities, Fun Games And Sailing.
As soon as the bell rang, all the year 8's gathered inside and patiently waited for the roll to be called. As the teachers processed slowly through the roll, people quietly chatted while others wondered about what fun activities were waiting for us. Finally, the roll had been called and we were told about the activities that were awaiting. We were then split into groups and I was put into group 4. In my group I had Angela, Daniel, Akshat, Jordan and Isaac. Our first challenge was to transport water into a bucket by using noodles (pool noodles). To connect the noodles together we were given 6 pieces of tape and we weren't allowed anymore pieces. At first, we thought that it would be easy but we started to find that it wasn't an easy task. Thanks to Angela's quick thinking, she thought that if she created a suction, then the water could come easily. Angela planned to suck on the end of the noodle and when the water started to come out, she moved the end of the noodle into the bucket. By using this method, our group came first. Yay! For our second challenge, we had to transport water by using straws into a plastic cup. We thought that we could use our suctation method but it didn't work as well as we planned. We then made an idea to create a spiral so the water could flow easily. Our plan worked and we came first again. Sadly, we didn't get points for teamwork but we still had a good time. as time flew by we were playing fun sports which was Battleships, Dodgeball and Swedish Soccer. Those games were really fun.
Once we had finished playing our fun games, it was time for us to get ready to head down to Bucklands beach to do sailing. We first all had something eat and once we were done, we got changed. After getting changed, we slipped on some sunscreen and got our bags ready.
As we all happily chatted on the bus, we had finally made it to the beach. Although the weather was sunny at school, the weather at the beach was cloudy and windy. As we all hopped out of the bus, we all shivered. It was very cold.
The kind instructors got us fitted into our lifejackets and then sent us away to one of the other instructors to learn how to sail our boats. As I looked at all the boats, I really wanted to sail in the blue one. It was hard getting my partner to choose the blue boat over the green one, she finally agreed that we'd sail in the blue one and I was super happy about that. The instructor told us that one person would control which way the boat went and the other would control the sail.
After learning about how to sail, my partner and I got into the boat and sailed off. At first, we were going really slow but as the wind picked up, we started to go fast. It felt kinda nice with the wind blowing through my hair. Anyway, a few times we landed back to shore and crashed into a few people but still, I had a really great time and I don't think that I'll ever forget this great experience. I had so much fun!
Here's some pics from sailing!
^ This is my group, we won the boat building competition. Yay! :D

^ Whoopsies. Looks like someone capsuled :(
Over the 3 days, I had a great time and I actually wouldn't mind doing those 3 activities again. Overall, this was probably my greatest highlight of my year at Farm Cove.

In the digital Area we are exploring how to change from Ultranet to Google Sites. This term I (Miss Fowlds) will be trying not to use Ultranet and learning how to use my Google site better. I am still learning how to do this so any advice or helpful feedback would be welcome.

This week we will be interviewing environment monitor Saumi.
Actually, Sanaaya and I are environment monitors too but it'd be weird interviewing ourselves :T
So here's how the interview went:
Grace: Hi Saumi! So first question, what's it like being an environments monitor?
Saumi: It is really cool, because you are cleaning the earth and plus if you do a good job you get a certificate and then get hot chips if you get ten environment awards.
Sanaaya: Nice, what's the job of an environment monitor?
Saumi: After morning tea or lunch you have to clean up your area. You use big brushes to scrape the leaves, and then you take all the bags which are unzipped and then put them inside.
Grace: Do you hate anything about your job? C'mon Saumi, be honest with us.
Saumi:I do not like it when people do not show up for their job. I do not even like it when people drop their bananas or mushy food on the floor so then I have to pick it up and it is gross. Overall I think this is a really cool job because you clean the area and you get hot chips :)
Grace: Yum! Hot chips!
Sanaaya: Mhmm! I love hot chips!!!!
Grace: You're making me hungry now :'(
Sanaaya: Why haven't you had breakfast this morning?
Grace: Well, I was playing video games for a while.... Then I went to sleep late... Then I slept in and realised that I was going to miss the bus so I quickly got changed and didn't have breakfast.
Sanaaya: You're a bad girl Grace.
Saumi: Guys? Are we still doing the interview?
Grace: Oh yeah.... Um... That's it. So.... Thanks for reading um fellow readers. Uh... We hope to have more blogs for you in the future.
Sanaaya: Wow Grace, that was so awkward.
Grace: That's just how I roll ;P
Saumi: Bye readers!
Sanaaya: Catch ya later alligator.
Grace: Peace out Girl/Boy/Animal/Duck scout.
Here's a picture of the environment monitor roster :D

Hello blog readers,
This is our blog on Literacy and facts on Literacy. Today we will be talking about spelling. Every week we have been doing spelling work to improve our skills on how to spell words correctly and to know different types of words to use in our stories we write. We make a grid like the picture below and then we write the meaning of the word, synanoms, sentences and then we draw a picture.
Meaning - what is meant by something
Synanoms - synanoms is the same meaning of a word
This is a picture of one of the weeks spelling

We had to do a word search and find different instrument names.
This is our listening log. We listened to a song then we had to write what genre we thought it would be in, the instruments and sound effects that we heard and the mood.
Stay tuned for next week!!! From Olivia and Cindy :) :)
